Description
The Lancia Monte Carlo, a quintessential representation of Italian automotive excellence, embodies a captivating blend of elegance, performance, and innovation. Introduced in 1975 at the Geneva Motor Show, this sleek sports car quickly captured the hearts of motoring enthusiasts worldwide.
At the core of the Monte Carlo’s allure lies its striking design, penned by the renowned Italian design house, Pininfarina. Characterized by clean lines, a low-slung profile, and distinctive wedge-shaped silhouette, the Monte Carlo exudes an aura of timeless sophistication. Its aerodynamic form not only enhances its visual appeal but also contributes to its performance prowess on both road and track.
Beyond its impeccable road manners, the Monte Carlo also made its mark in motorsport, competing in various racing events, including rallies and endurance races. Notably, it achieved success in the World Rally Championship, showcasing its agility, durability, and competitive spirit on some of the world’s most challenging stages.
This example on offer is the Series 2 Spider variant, making it a very rare model and it’s the one you would always want to find and own. It presents in very well condition and totally rust free. It has never been restored and is still in amazing and exemplary condition. Purchased from the original and first owner; this car has been totally refurbished by ALF Centre (Alfa, Lancia, and Fiat) in Gordons Bay, South Africa, with invoices to reflect this . The original black leather seats have been magnificently refurbished, and the leather is supple and fresh and a new soft-top canvas roof was fitted by New Look Trimmers in Cape Town. Many of the new parts were purchased from Monte Carlo Hospital in the UK, ensuring correct parts being used. Only 817 Montecarlo Spiders were produced with less than 200 made in Right-Hand-Drive (RHD) In the USA they were known as Scorpions, as Chevrolet owned the Monte Carlo name. In our opinion there are probably only 30-40 Montecarlo left in the UK, with 12 of those being ones we have exported to the UK since the early 2000’s.
They are beautiful collectors’ cars, and shine as a classic car – as they are inexpensive to run, using Fiat mechanicals. When a body, interior and motor is as good as this , it makes for an outstanding purchase. These truly are mini Ferrari’s.
