Description
The MG TD, produced from 1950 to 1953, is one of the most iconic post-war British sports cars which combined pre-war styling with modern mechanical upgrades of the time. The TD captured the spirit of open-top motoring of its time.
It was powered by a 1.3-litre XPAG inline-4 engine, producing around 54hp. While not blisteringly fast, the TD made up for it with a light curb weight, nimble handling, and a spirited driving experience. Mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox, it could cruise comfortably and corner with surprising confidence thanks to its independent front suspension, an advancement over its predecessor, the MG TC.
Today, the MG TD is celebrated not for outright performance, but for its charm, style, and mechanical simplicity. It represents a golden era of motoring, where driving was an experience to be savoured. Roof down, gearbox clicking, and the wind in your face.
This superb example, finished in British Racing green over green leather interior and tan roof is one of the finest we have come across. Fully restored, The drive is superb & comes with the factory spare wheel attached to the rear and is a well-documented car. A rarity in South Africa definitely! Whether enjoyed on a Sunday morning drive or displayed at a concours event, this MG TD will most certainly stand its own with nose held high.
