Description

Unveiled in 1998, the BMW Z3 M Coupé was an audacious departure from BMW’s traditional design language. Based on the Z3 Roadster, the M Coupé fused the performance of the M Division with a unique shooting-brake body style, resulting in a car that looked unlike anything else on the road.

Under the hood, it is powered by the S54 straight-six engine pushing out 315hp, the same engine used in the E46 M3. The car delivered a raw and visceral driving experience that few modern sports cars can replicate.

The Z3 M Coupé’s chassis was praised for its rigidity, thanks to the fixed roof design (which only came out in this model), and paired with M-tuned suspension, a limited-slip differential, and hydraulic steering, it offered exceptional cornering precision and road feedback. Initially controversial in appearance, the Z3 M Coupé’s unconventional silhouette earned it the affectionate nickname “Clown Shoe” among enthusiasts. Today, that once-divisive styling has become a symbol of individuality and collector desirability.
