The Austin Healey 3000 is a quintessential British sports car that exudes elegance, performance, and timeless charm. Produced from 1959 to 1967, this iconic vehicle remains a beloved classic among enthusiasts and collectors alike, holding a special place in automotive history.

Under the hood, the Austin Healey 3000 is powered by a robust inline-six engine, initially a 2.9-liter unit producing around 124 horsepower. Later iterations saw increases in power output, with the MkIII variant featuring a 3.0-liter engine delivering approximately 148 horsepower. Paired with a smooth-shifting manual transmission, this engine provides ample torque and acceleration, allowing the car to reach impressive speeds and deliver an exhilarating driving experience. Beyond its performance and aesthetics, the Austin Healey 3000 holds a significant place in automotive history. It achieved notable success in motorsport, competing in prestigious events such as the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Monte Carlo Rally.

The example we have on offer is the 3000 Mk1 BT7 and presents superbly. It benefits from a bare metal restoration with no expense spared. It is finished in a lovely green metallic over cream interior and is a pleasure to see and drive. It is understood to be a three-owner car with it being delivered new to Rhodesia in 1961 and then imported to South Africa by a Dr. Michael Freeman in 1967. The existing owner purchased the car through an agent for the Doctor around 2017 and after enjoying the car for a while he set about doing a thorough and bare metal restoration with the finished result as seen here. The only reason for selling the car is that the owner has emigrated but not to a RHD country. The Austin-Healey 3000 MK1 2+2 is accompanied with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust “Certified Copy of Factory Record” confirming the car to be numbers matching.
